what size freeze plug to plug timing cover

I am going to an electric water pump and double roller timing chain. I know a 1 and 1/8 inch freeze plug is used to plug the wp on the back, but what size to I need to plug the timing cover? Thanks for the info.

Technically speaking all you need to do is remove the drive shaft between the cover and the pump. Easy way, no remove of the timing cover needed. And if you ever want to go back it is easy as well. Just thinking outloud???

I tried forever to find a plug--the problem is it is in between sizes. I think it's a 32mm but everyplace I checked went from 30mm to 34mm. You could get a screw/nut and a couple of washers/rtv to seal it but I wasn't crazy about the possiblilty of the nut backing off and something going into the timing chain. So, I used a half dollar (perfect fit) and some JB Weld. It looks good, and if it ever did fail, at least it wouldn't go into the engine .

Best of all 95rag if someone uncovers your car in the year 2204 they will think it was powered by the silver in the coin and the mystery substance (jb) that was the catalyst! they will never believe it ran on internal combustion! I have used coins for all types or repairs but never had the guts to admit it BRAVO!

I'm with him. A 2004 quarter and some JB Weld goes a long way. Best 25 cents I've ever spent!

I personally used two washers to sandwich the timing cover, and a small bolt and lock nut (nylock). Little rtv on the bolt head and it hasnt leaked one drip.
