Can't remember for sure...but I beleive it is a 9/16.

Maybe somebody can verify that.

I just went through this mess. The holes are tapped with a 1/4" pipe thread. Pipe taps are a whole different animal than regular bolt threads. Normal pipe fittings are tapered, but the steam tube bolts are not.The bolt is a 1/2" shank with a 18 pitch thread. There is no such standard bolt size. The closest is a 9/16-18, but it is too big. The banjo bolts are sized to the small end of a 1/4" pipe fitting. Good luck finding a replacement except from the dealer. If you are looking to clean the threads up, use a 1/4" pipe tap and only use the very bottom portion. If you keep threading it up the tap (which tapers), the bolt will be too small, and won't engage the threads.

If you have this problem, you can buy standard pipe fittings and make your own steam tube from a 90 fitting, a T fitting, and some stainless braid hose. It works well.

A 9/16 tap will not easily screw in. It will open the hole up and the banjo bolt will not fit. It is not 9/16.

I believe there is some confusion going on here between bolt size and head size. 19-/32" or 15mm is what mine are for head size.

The bolts are .25-18 NPSF special. That means that is is a straight pipe thread, rather than tapered (like nateh was saying).
