What should my shift points be...

Re: What should my shift points be...
Probably around 6000 or 6100 if your tach is accurate......But most factory tach's are off a couple hundred RPM's.....With some trial and error on the street, or better yet, at the track, you should be able to feel exactly where it wants to be shifted at.....In that reguard, your lucky it's a manual, I had to mess with mine quite a bit to get the shiftpoints just right

Think this one through...
If you are at 6000 RPM in 1st and then shift, what will be the 2nd gear RPM?
What you want is to balance max power in the gear you are in and be at the sweet-spot in your torque curve for your next gear.
You may find that shift points should be different for different gears. You might want to shift earlier in 1st because 2nd will perform admirably pretty much anywhere in the 3000 to 6000 RPM range, and you will be taking advantage of the taller gear. As you row through 3rd, you may find yourself winding out a littler further, taking advantage of the lower gear before slamming into 4th.
