What should I run with Corsa exhaust!?!

I have a 97 Z-28 and i was wondering what i should run with Corsa exhaust and i have very grippy tires?

Any suggestions what you would do next to a car like this!
Bolt-ons anything that isn't very expensive. I want to be in low 13's or 12's!!!

Get a good suspension setup and with very light bolt ons and good driving you will nail the 12s. Its all about getting off the line, get your 60ft under 2.0 and you will be golden. Or a 100 or 150 shot will do it too. Bolt on performance stuff doesnt help all that much, not as much as a good suspension does, except rockers, those are good for quite a few ponies.

In short:
1. Lower control arms
2. Torque Arm
3. Relocation brackets for LCAs
4. Good tires
5. Light diet for the car
6. Panhard/Swaybars
7. Intake/Exhaust
8. Rockers (1.6 rollers)

With that you are definitely in shape for the 12s if you can drive

Thanks!!!

Alot of people have told me a good suspension is really good for the track! Could give any specific light bolt-ons for me to get?

BMR is a cheap but quality brand. Get their boxed subframe connectors, control arms, panhard bar, and relocation brackets. It'll make your Z feel entirely different.

Oh yeah, forgot the subframes, they are the most important of them all.

Anyways. Intake, Headers for sure (not really cheap, but one of the best boltons you can get.)

Do all the free stuff, unless you have emissions laws. Delete the EGR, AIR, TB bypass. And the best ""bolton you can get almost"" programming, get some pcmforless programming and you will see some awesome gains even with a very stock car. Id suggest the load it yourself program that Brian does though, since it sounds like you are going to get into the modifications more heavily later on, you can always get updates for free.

Question???

What is EGR,Air, and TB bypass? I heard instead of getting CAI you can always cut holes into the airbox!?! My friend done that to his and he said it never hurt anything. Any other ways to cheat?

egr and air are both for emissions. they really won't yield any power just take off a few pounds and clear up your engine bay. throttle body bypass is where you remove hoses from your throttle body that carry coolant. the warm coolant is to heat up the throttle body in cold temps so the throttle body does not freeze. however, i have not heard of a problem with this being bypassed even in winter. do a search for all three of these and you will find a ton of info. other ways to cheat? not really. make sure your car is not pulling any codes. this will usually hurt performance and fuel economy. by cleaning out my throttle body i had better throttle response and a smoother gas pedal. oh yeah, seafoam the engine.

EGR is "exhaust gas recirculation", it takes the gases from the exhaust manifolds and puts them into the intake manifold, parltly to heat up the intake air when the engine is cold, and also to increase fuel economy i guess. It is the circular things with the tubes going through them on the ehxuast manifolds. The AIR pump is a pump that moves the exhaust gases around, so if you have no EGR, then the AIR pump is pointless and is dead weight. TB bypass is throttle body bypass for short. There is a coolant line running through the throttle body to heat it up, you simply take the IN line and the OUT line off the TB and connect them together using a small pipe splicer.

The reason for the removal of these things is that hot air is bad for horsepower. The colder the air the denser the O2 molecules are, and more O2 = more power.

A CAI will run you about $200 for a pretty good one, if you want even cheaper you can get a conical K&N filter from autozone for like $40 and fab something up with 3" or 4" PVC pipe.

The basic reason that programming works so well is that GM programs the cars relatively rich running, which increases the longevity of the life of the engine, it can run cooler with a richer fuel mixture, the leaner an engine runs the more explosive the combustion cycle will be. Reprogrammin modifys the tables to lean out the mixture a little bit, but not to a dangerous point.

Let us know if there is anything else you would like an explanation on, there is a huge wealth of knowledge at hand with this messageboard.

Also, Corsa is awesome, probably the best quality exhaust you can buy for these cars, and it sounds realll badass. But its really expensive also, unless you are really attached to it, it seems like you are on a tight budget like the rest of us. Hooker makes and awesome catback exhaust system for less than $400, so does flowmaster, SLP makes one for around $400, and they all sound really good, althoug you will get a lot of bad opinions on flowmaster, I like mine though. just a thought
