What should I look for on scanning my Z?

Right now I have freescan and got a cable today. So could someone tell me what I should look for as far as blm's and O2s,ect. Should I do it at idle or make a wot pass or what? Please make it simple. My car is hard to start and surges so I am trying to find out what to check. Thanks Alan

freescan sucks... go download the trial version of TTS Datamaster. its the same thing as the full version but you only get to use it 20 times.

heres a great write up for the Scanmaster functions but it also applies to all scanners.

Turbo_Z just gave the link I was looking for. This is an excellent source of information--although not as simple as you were probably wanting. Read through that link, (better yet, print it up for reference later on) it should have every answer you're looking for when it comes to understanding what you're looking at when you're monitoring your vehicle.

freescan is IMO harder to learn off of because it doesnt log data like datamaster does. if you want to learn off freescan then you must do it while you are driving... not really the best idea if you ask me. datamaster will allow you to go over the same file as many times as you want. the trial version is free btw.
