A mail order tune is a cheap way to add some power and a shift kit is another cheap easy mod. The addition of headers, gears, and a higher stall converter will also wake the car.

Read this board, learn more about how automobiles work, and don't "mod" until you can fully grasp and apprecitate what you are doing.

For you, the decision to swap parts should not be based on a price/E.T. ratio, but on a price/level of enjoyment basis; there is a difference. Looking at customizing a car for performance from the first perspective is a form of spiraling logic for a newb, "someone else is always faster..."

If you are on a budget, chill out, read a REAL service manual, and learn how much it's going to cost to replace/repair parts you already have, sh*t is going to break.

Some helpful, interesting reading material for a newb with an LT1:

GM Port Injection

Understanding Horsepower and Torque

LT1 Reverse Flow Coolant System

Fuel Injection Basics

Nathon Plemons's LT1 Guide

Reher Morrison Tech Talk

I'm leaving out all sorts of other good stuff, but these came off the top of my head.

Unless you have too much time on your hands, you should be able to keep your hands full for a while just by keeping your car in top shape, learning how to drive it, and reading, reading, reading...

Ha I usually don't even respond to these kinds of threads, but for some reason tonight I was inspired to do so.

Oh yeah, use the search tool, A LOT!

He has a '93, so if he goes with gears he will also have to get the speedo-recalibration box (or whatever it's called) since the speedo on '93's aren't controlled by the computer ('94+).
