What should I dial in at?

I've got a 84 Monte that weighs in at about 3600lbs with me in it. Tell me what you guys think that I'll run with the following set up...

Stock Bottom End
LE2 Heads
GM 846 Cam
1.6 Rockers
52mm Throttle Body
1 5/8" Long Tubes 3" collectors into Full 2.5" Exhaust
3600 Stall
3.55/Posi 12 Bolt Held in w/ beefed up LCAs
255/60r15 drag radials

I'm shooting for 12.5 NA with a good tune.

I have not seen a GM847 matched with LE2 heads that I can recall. Why not go with the LE2 cam as well? It isnt always about how BIG the cam is as it is how well it works with the head... and I would assume (probably not a good thing to do) that Lloyd has picked a cam that will work well in conjunction.

I wish I went bigger on the heads personally, that is my biggest complaint (it is my fault for being cheap).

I would say a low 12 or high 11 would be doable if EVERYTHING is working great and 1.5-1.6 60's. I am stuck in the mid-low 1.7 60's (usually my lowest is a mid 1.7) and am running low low 12s now. LE1 heads are hurting me big time.

I'd think you could dial that time in. It's always best to get a few runs in that morning during the time trials to make sure you dialed in accurately. I would think you could pull more than a 12.5 though.

Thanks 96LT1TX! I'm glad I got LE2 heads then. Who else is running mid-low 12s on here? I'm sure there are a million of you but I just want to know what else I need to consider to hit this goal.

He mentioned an 846 cam, not an 847 cam..somewhat of a difference.

I'd say low 12's is certainly doable, my T/A ran 11.8@118 with that cam but a set of More Performance heads. That was my best of everything run and I doubt I could rip one of those off every week...LOL

Sorry, thought I saw 847. Not familiar with the specs on that but it doesn't matter much. Run it and you tell us!!
