What RPM "Safely" should I wind my stock bottom end to?

What RPM "Safely" should I wind my stock bottom end to?

I have had headwork done and at the same time went to 987-16 double springs, hardended pushrods with guides. I assume This end of things is not the limitation (maybe it is) so, what is a safe RPM for these engines? currently, I won't take it above 6K because the reason I had to rebuild is a floated valve hitting my piston. Of course it did not help that I had only 40 lbs of spring pressure left on my stock springs when I wound it out to 6100 RPM.

So what is safe?

Did you rebuild with quality bearings, oil pump and rod bolts. If so, you can rev away.

Im on stock bottom end still and have seen 6800 more than once. Some engines last, others dont.

atljar, I have not rebuilt the bottom end and I have 57K on it.

kcsoz20, I assume you are working off a stock bottom also? How often do you hit the rev limiter?

Stock bottom end, built the top end at 93K miles. has 108K miles now.

Don't hit the rev limiter much at all shift points are around 6200. Might hit my rev limiter occasionally during my burnout locked in 2nd.

I dont spin mine past 6200 because thats where my cam stops making power. With a stock cam, I would not spin it past like 5600 because I'm sure its not going to make any power beyond that. There is no need to spin the motor past the power band of your cam, unless you want to risk blowing your motor up.

I stock LT1 has a rev limiter of 5800 RPM for a reason. The stock block is not balanced past 6000 RPM. That is the reason that "some motors last and some don't" when going to that RPM. While ur valvetrain could probably easily support 6500+ RPM, i wouldn't carry ur stock short block any farther than 6200 RPM, or u could run into problems.

and it has hit the rev limiter many times also and never had a problem except a broken pushrod and rocker arm stud

7000k??? crazy *** camaro drivers...

I rev to 6300 on the stock bottom end... Comp R pushrods, stock lifters, all beefed valvetrain with matching springs.. 987's right now but swapping the heads next week.. got some cranes going in with the new heads and some comp r lifters.

Ive been running 6300rpms for 20,000 miles now.. or 2 1/2 years with 360-380 flywheel hp... No problems. 6300 was recommended as the safe limit for stock timing chain and bottom end.

Watching it go to 6300 rpms on the dyno is scarey

95,000 mile stock bottom end. Rev limiter set at 6600...Shift at 6200, but have tried 6400 a few times.

My rev limiter is set to 6400 rpm, I stop making power around 6400 rpm, but I am afraid to take it past 6100 rpm, even w/ my set up. For that reason stated earlier, stock bottom end, not rebuilt, but even then I rarely take it past the stock redline, unless I'm racing then I'll take it to about 6100-6200 rpm.
