If you can manually select 1st gear you have 3.23s
If on the other hand your selector only will let you go into second then you have 2.73s.

Listen to what "revtime" said, that is the easiest way to figure them out.

You know when you are selecting gears, there is P,R,N,D etc.... In the same fashion, if there is a "1" in the same row with the P,R..... that you can select, then you have 3.23s. But if you don't have a "1" and have a "2" instead, you have 2.73s. Hope this helps.

Should be extremly easy to figure out what gear your in, unless your a "moron" using the term lightly, Look on the gear selector on the console, if it has a 1 you have 3.23's.

If it says:
P R D 3 2 1
You have 3:23's

If it says:
P R D 3 2
You have 2:71's

yes, you have 3.23s, and no, I wouldn't get 3.73s.

yes, headers are a very good idea. do a search on headers, and you can get an idea on what kind to get.

If the guy who had the car before him did the first gear bypass, chances are he didn't put in a shifter plate which says 1. The guy before me did the bypass on my car, but never replaced the shifter plate, so I pulled one out of a junkyard. Just look at the RPO codes in the box. It will be GU and a number.....
