What is the piston order for TDC
What is the piston order for TDC
Trying to find my TDC right now.
Is the #1 piston the left or right side piston when looking from the front?
I have the service manuals and it doesnt really explain TDC to you because they expect you to have the gears marked, which mine are not.
I think its the right side first piston. If its all the way to the top, I also understand there are two strokes, and i want to be on the compression stroke.
I I need to put my Crank sprocket on at TDC.
I have the heads off, so i have a clear visual of the pistons. The cam is in the motor and the gear is on the cam. from what i read the cam dowel should be at the 3 o clock when installing the cam, and the crank should be at tdc, correct?
someone please explain this. I bought this block with no markings, and didnt think it was gonna be an issue.
thanks

Re: What is the piston order for TDC
If you look through the cam install guide on my website, it should all be explained. All gears have markings. 1 and 6 pistons mirror each other during crank travel (other cylinders do the same thing). It's the cam position that determines which stroke the cylinder is on.
Re: What is the piston order for TDC
Ive read your page a few times now.
quoted from you
"Line up the dots on the timing gears. 12 o'clock for the crank gear and 6 o'clock for the cam gear. This will put the cam dowel at 3 o'clock and #6 TDC. "
So if i install my Crank gear on the crank at the position shown in my post before, and put my cam dowel at 3 o clock then im set?
