What is this part?

I took a picture of it but can't get it on here. It's the hose on the passenger side of the throttle body on the bottom. it comes off the throttle body (a 90 degree elbow) then runs straight (6 or 7 inches) into this little black box and plugs in on the top right underneath this red and blue connector. Well the 90 degree elbow that comes off the throttle body is all cracked and looks like if i pull it off or try to it will break. Can anyone tell me what this part is and what it does? Also being the way it is, Is it hurting performance at all. Thanks for the help. Justin

That is the purge solenoid for the return fuel vapor that goes to the charcoal canister in the driver side q-panel. The line goes around and under the throttle body and enters the split-loom tubing that holds all of the fuel lines.

It won't hurt performance, but you'll get a pungent fuel smell if it breaks.

I took it to advanced auto and they just sold me a piece of 9/16's vac. hose for like $2. So i just cut the length i needed and put it on and there's no issues. Thanks for the help, Justin
