What overflow catch can do I need?

I need an aftermarket radiator catch can for my 95 LT1. I have a nonvented one. Will this work akay, or do I have to get a vented one?
Thanks for any info.

What you need depends on the use and how much you want to maintain the car...

Yes it should be vented, the vent should release behind the rear tires so that you don't crash if you start pushing water mid track...

You can get away with a non-recirculating one but you have to keep an eye on levels and top off the rad and drain the overflow periodically.

Or go with a recirculating one (or go in through the drain location of a non) so that when the rad cools it sucks the coolant back in from the overflow...

I made my own because I am cheap, it consists of a bottle with a capacity of roughly 1.5 liters. it can be drained from a screw off cap on the bottom and I made it recirculating because the tube goes in throught the top and all the way down to the bottom where it can suck fluid back out if it needs to. I also took a small drill bit and put a few vent holes in the top so when it fills it doesn't over preasuize the bottle. My can/bottle is mounted in the spare tire well so if it fills to the vent holes I drilled in there it would just drain out behind the rear tires...

Thanksfor the input. If I tee the drain back in to the overflow line, will this work?

as long as the other end of the tee has a way to close and is not draining all the time then yeah...
