What new motor for my '95 z28?

I overheated my '95 z28 and I think I blew the head gasket. I have 160 K Mi on it. I want to upgrade the motor anyway, so what should I do? I need Calif smog legal and I want over 400 HP and fuel injection. Do I stay with a souped up LT1 style or should I go to a LS1? I also need a clutch. I understand the centerforce is a good choice. Any tips would be appriciated.
Thanks.

stay away from centerforce.. most will say McCleod (sp?) or Spec would be your best bet..

as for engines.. if part of yours is good to keep and build up to save money then keep the LT1 and do a strong H/C car..

Otherwise go for the LS1.. I had a decent LT1 but it broke down on me too much so I traded it in for the new 2002 2years ago... been happy ever since.. albeit slower.. hehe

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any suggestions for a crate motor or how to get a design that I will like?

What would you do to the "basic" LT1? Should I bore it, stroke it, etc?
