I believe ya will see more than minimal gain(ie 10/15HP)
Ya could run that thing on 86 octane as it is now.

 

Would a cam swap have the same effect? Do you think a smaller cam would make more power?

Raising the compression or a smaller cam will help everything,especially the torque. I imagine your dyno sheet shows it to be low on torque.To small will kill ya. Ya need to get the IC back away from the 84* closing point. Hell my 260'ish on a 108* mechanical roller in my shop car has an earlier IVC than yours. When I saw the 84* I like to have fallen out of the chair.

 

It is low on torque.. Well maybe i should get with someone about a custom cam. If i can make it up with a smaller cam that would be great.

 

Get the spects on a recommended cam and figure out your DCR. The closer to 9.0 ya stay the better it will run. Ya will need a new tune also.

you know me and cams the car will be on complete new cam number 3 before the winter is over...i just cant make my mind up with what i want

 

If ya PM me all the engine spects,head flow,valve size,port runner size(H/W),what intake,and all the rest that isn't posted,I will run it on my program's and get ya real close to what ya need. It will take me a day or two to run all the scenario's, but ya will know.

 

i was talking about his combo he used to have a 847 in it before the motor let go so i dont know the full on cam specs

 

He sent some info. Waiting on some sizes now.

 

He was going to see if he could get me specs to match my setup, that is why he needed the info. I wish i had spun a rod bearing or something besides the cam bearing because i had to trash that 500mile brand new 847.
