What might be wrong?
What might be wrong?
Finished my new head gaskets install and finished setting the rr lash i guess it is. everything back together and started it up and it stumbled felt like it was miss firing checked all the wires a few times and had them all in the right spot, im sure its plug or wire because before when my ses would flash it was missing, but today after work im going to run it up to autozone its only about 2 minutes down the road. Any Idea on this, maybe i have the wrong hose somewhere or what?
Head Gasket Trouble
now theres like no coolent flowing and i filled it up to the top in the resivore i guess it is as well as filled it up in the radiator directly its slowy going down in the resivore tube i guess thats a slow process or something. autozone told me it was a random misfire, which he said was 2 or more wires mixed up

Re: What might be wrong?
Rule No:1
NEver under any circumstances ask an Autozone employee mechanical advice or a diagnoises.
Get it scanned write the codes down, then run far far away.
To see if the coolant is flowing start the car up and just feel on the hoses to see if they have pressure in them.

Re: What might be wrong?
thats what i did, i went and got it scaned, random misfire so he said thats 2 or more wires that are wrong or bad.
the coolent was dripping down from the oil filter, i mean it wasnt coming out of it but it was somewhere above that. I guess im just going to have a shop investigate it tomorrow or sometime soon being school starts tomorrow!
Hell I dont know, we changed head gaskets everything was going good till i started it up and knew it wasnt going right, kinda made me feel like **** and pissed me off all my hard time and effort and being this will cost my family money to finish fixing. I had the heads checked and the machined them down some so i know they were straight, the drivers side i got on great and easy but the passenger side there was about 3 bolts i couldnt get all the way down being in a bad and or spot. But that doesnt make up for my miss and my coolent flowing as well as a little oil leak somewhere.

Re: What might be wrong?
Did they pull up the code, or did the guy just flat out say it was a random missfire...???
If your wires are in correctly There might be something wrong with the opti. Did you get it wet with coolant at all?
If your coolant isn't flowing through your system the water pump might be acting up.
When my water pump malfunctioned the pressure in the cooling system built up very badly... My hose was 3 seconds from busting before I hauled *** off the road.
I'm not saying your water pump might be jacked... but you might want to check it out.. it may be possible that your pump isn't flowing the coolant as it should be and the pressure is releasing itself by escaping where the bolts on your heads werent torqued down as they should be.
Your best bet is to have them run tracer dye in your system and hit it with a light to see where the leaks are comming from exactly. That might give you a hint as to what bolts need to be re tightend... or yo ucan just check them with a torque wrench yourself to save time.
Why did you have to replace the head gaskets in the first place? Did one blow? A malfunctioning wp can also cause a blown head gasket.

Re: What might be wrong?
he just scaned it, i didnt get the codes written down he just said random misfire which is 2 or more and he said if it was just 1 it would say misfire? I guess i just needed to fill the radiator up all the way and the resivore. But the coolent was coming from the side i got all the way the drivers side i think. im going to check it later on my self for sure as well install the wires all over again. but once i can get it to run right ill take it to the shop and let them check all the bolts again. I didnt know for sure it was just what everyone was telling me, and only the drivers side was smokin from the exhaust, and being i dont have an h or y or x pipe just true duals i know for sure. it was white smoke and i was losing coolent i took the gasket off the drivers side and i could tell the back cylinder on the ring i guess it is on the gasket had a little chip/crack and the coolent could flow through that
Re: What might be wrong?
just went outsdie and jacked it up ready to take off the wires, and i found where the coolent is coming from, theres a hole next to the steam vent tube in the back of the drivers side head, if you felt behind anyone of your heads theres a hole to the left of it, its coming from there what is that and how do i fix that?
Re: What might be wrong?
thats what it was, and i think i had the back 2 passenger side wires crossed. i went out and felt earlier its not the whole to the left its coming from the cross over, i swear there on maybe just not tight enough
Re: What might be wrong?
Ok the 2 wires were crossed and now it runs great/idles i cant drive it yet being the coolent cross over leaks on the drivers side and ive got the gasket on i swear whats the part number for a new one? and if you cant buy one what will work in place of it?
Now to get that fixed and let a shop re check the passenger side bottom head bolts for correct tq , well a trustable one anyhow.

Re: What might be wrong?
Glad to hear your norrowing it down...
Check Check & Double Recheck everything when you do installs man... saves Helluva headaches. Especially getting the torque specs right.
