what is making his car get slower year by year?

My cousin has a 95z with 117k miles. It is stock except for the cai & flowmaster. He ran a 15.3 and seemed to get good traction. I thought he would be in the high 13's or low 14's. How would i help him figure out what might be loosing him over 1 sec off his stock car when it was new? He bought it new and every year it gets a little slower. There seems to be no noticable idle or higher rpm issues. The car is an M6. He keeps everything in top shape and changes the oil every 1000 miles with mobil 1.

I would describe it as adding weight. If i put (2) 350 pound guys in the back seat the cars would run and feel normal but just be slower. I cannot feel, hear or see anything out of the ordinary.

If he ran at different tracks with different conditions, that could be a possibility. So he keeps everything in good working order, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ect? A pretty easy way of knowing if his car is making the power it should would be to do a dyno run. With that mileage, maybe it is a possibility that he is starting to lose some compression somewhere resulting in a loss of power and track times.

yea id say if he has never changed his plugs/wires that would be the culprit...unless his engine is tired..

If it is starting to lose some compression somewhere how would you find the culprit or what are the most likely places? I figured most cars over 100K on a stock engine would be having some issues. Is there anyway to bandage it of add some additive or whatever?

When he ran that 15.3 what was the MPH?I ran against a 95z years ago and his mph was 89 but then he was using 87 octane fuel and who knows where else he cut corners!I would do the basic stuff first and optimize the present combo, and try to scan the car to see if KR is there as when these cars sit for extended period of time the fuel system, injectors, get restricted and the car is not getting enough fuel.

fuel additive

I would try a couple bottles of fuel system cleaner and if that doesn,t help the injectors need professional cleaning, a product like Restore can make the compression more even across and i buy it in the U.S as it is 14-15 in CDN

I bought a bottle of the Restore and it was for a V8. The price was $10. Right next to it was a 4 cylinder bottle 1/2 its size for 9.00. I assume the product is identical but only smaller. I would think you would buy a V8 bottle for your V4 and save half for next time. If anyone knows if the two are the same but just different sizes let me know. Thanks

How do you know it is "slow"? You only mention his ETs, which could be lousy 60s, etc.
