What is the long plastic piece that hangs down in front of the water pump for? It is attached to the air intake elbow but is sealed off at the bottom, does anyone know why it is there?

It’s a resonator its suppose to silence incoming air noise somehow

Taking it out gives you an extra 50hp.... not really but it would be cool if it did

Thanks..one of my formulas was missing it, previous owner thought the car needed a tune up because it idled rough when cold. The hole on the air intake was wide open, closed it off and rough cold idle gone. I bet he never even knew it was gone.

It's called the donkey dong. It's to make the intake suction quiet.

Epoxy a Pert shampoo cap in the hole that the silencer came out of and you'll be set.

Lol donkey dong. I was lookin at that thing wonderin what it was for when I was bending up the bottom part of the replacement nose that never had those three plastic fasteners put in by the previous owner. I was thinkin that might a nice way to start a shielded intake from underneath until i realized the diameter was prolly too small.
