What lifters did I buy?!?!

Old one on the left, new one on the right. Notice where the lifter guide bar would sit. Opposite of what I had/need.

Can I buy new lifter guide bars or can I not use these?

Thanks,

Rob

As long as they are the size you should be able to use them. And you can always reuse the guide bars if their not compatible then there wrong you might have to send them back. Also when you buy something usually its best with valve train components such as lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, and pivot ***** to go to compcams.com because they specify where they can be used and on what vehicles and what else you will need to buy to make them work if they are different than factory. Truthfully i cannot tell what you have i would have to read a description of them to tell. Usually from 1989 to 1998 they all used the same lifters.

Looking at your pics, your dog bones would position the new (right side lifter in pic) lifter roller horizonal instead of vertical on the cam lobe. I'm sure that will destroy the cam if you install them like that. I would send them back. What is the make and part number of the new lifter.

Yikes, I would get in touch with whoever you bought them from and have them get you the right ones.

So I gotta ask, do you notice it before or after you installed them in the block?

Noticed before they went in the block. Here's the kicker, I bought them at a swap meet in a gladware container. I don't know who made them, or any numbers. I guess i'm screwed.
