what kind of powerr out of a cc306

What is the most rwhp a cc306 ground on a 114lsa can make. This is on a 396. I want to build a streetable motor that would be good for nitrous i was thinking of some great flowing heads like the afr 215 raised runner heads. what kind of intake manifold would i need to be able to match that up.

Out of curiousity, some friends and I strapped a cc306 on a dyno, and were shocked to find that it made absolutely NO power whatsoever.

Seriously, I would think about going a little bigger. Better to go with a custom grind for YOUR particular application. As long as it's a lobe from their master catalog, it won't cost you a dime more.

the reason i wouldnt really want to go bigger is because its a daily driver. And ive heard that the 306 was already fairly big for a street application can you recomend me another cam. this motor is also going to be built for a large shot of nitrous thats why i wanted the 114lsa.

In a 396, that cam is gonna be real tame...trust me, I've been there. Big cubes swallow up large cams that would normally be too much with stock cubes.

If you get it cut on a 114lsa, it will be a pretty good nitrous cam.

And it will drive VERY tame...

Will the cc306 affect vacuum. Can someone also explain to me how a larger cam affects vacuum. Is there anything i can do to prevent this and also what is a xe cam that is comparable or slightly larger than the 306.

Just to put my 2 cents in. I have a 383 with what most people would call a tiny cam, a comp 3192/3194 224/230 duration .567/.584 lift with 1.5 rr on a 112 lsa. Stock heads ported flowing 280/200 at .600 lift. My car makes 408rwhp and is absolutely as streetable at you can get. So much for strokers eating up a cam, my car shows that is not necessarily true. This car is a monster off idle. Just a view from the other side of the fence.

ttt I think when he said big cubes eat up a cam he meant that it makes unstreetable cams more streetable. So nobody has any idea what kind of hp you can make with a cc306?

Well , I never dynoed my car so I dont know how HP/TQ I was making . My 3700 convertible went 116 mph in the 1/4 with stock cubes NA . So needless to say , I was making some decent power with the cc306 . I didnt have any vacum problems at all and to me it made for a great street cam .

When I was running a cc306 in my 396, it made 388rwhp with very little tuning....and too much leakdown in a few of the cylinders. It will make power as long as you have a good set of heads. My heads at the time were just average....

FWIW - I had heavily ported stg. 3 LT4 castings with 2.05/1.60 valves and used a thinner .026 head gasket .

Doesn't the longer stroke help with vacuum (reason why people say strokers 'swallow up' the larger cams)? A 306 on a stroker would seem to me to be pretty streetable. There are a couple of folks on here with the 306, stock heads & displacement, none have complained about their car being unstreetable.

For the Comp Cams XE cams, check out Combination Motorsports.. They have more XE grinds now too, check this post out.
