what kind of power are you 383/396 guys putting down?

Hi everyone. I would like to know what kind of rwhp/rwtq you 383/396 guys are putting out, natural aspirated or with a blower. Or if you don't have numbers, what kind of et's and mph your getting. I know someone on this board recently put out 433/420 na from a Baur 383 engine. Just want to know what results other people have been getting. And if it's not too much trouble, what kind of cam your running. Doesn't have to be specific, just say close to a 305 or 306 cam etc. I'm trying to decide on what my next direction will be, 383/396 na, or 383 blower. Thanks in advance.

K dude check this out. I just came back from the machine shop 1 hour ago. I striped my motor myself tok them the block. For the machine work, pistons, crank, rods, and bearings its gonna run me 2000. I'm putting it together. That aint the bad part. What everyone has to remember is the upgrades you have to do to keep up with the 383. Exam. TB, Inj., fuel pump, and the BIG ONE is the tranny which I dont think would last for long without an upgrade. I also dropped of my tranny today, and that will run 2200 to beef it up with a shift kit. Then there is also the...."maybe i should get" parts. Torque Convt., HEADS!!!!!! to flow that bad boy.

So all in all there is more to think about than just a rebuild.

Hope you have beter luck than I ........S.J.S.

I just finished putting in a 385 with Vortech I only have about 800 miles on it and the Opti just crapped out on me, But with the bad Opti and not any tuning yet at 4000 rpm and 5 psi I was putting down 480rwhp and about the same torque. When I get the new Opti back and I get a little more brake in time I'm shooting for anywhere between 550 & 600 rwhp and the same torque at 7psi. My motor is 9.5 CR and the cam is 228/236 511/533 112 LSA. I have extensive headwork done on the stock heads and 2.02 intake valves 1.60 exhaust. Yes it cost mucho $ to make a reliable high horse motor.

I was thinking of doing a combo similar to RCF925. 383/blower. It will cost some bucks but keep me entertained for a while. I'm looking for at least 500rwhp and a decent amount of tq. Would really like about 550 or so. If I went natural aspirated, I'm shooting for around 440-450rwhp from a 396. Not sure how hard that will be, street driven of course.

I was the one with the Bauer Motor....I cant stress enough how "baby" this cam is. This winter we may go with a solid with 460+ not being a problem...
