What kind of hub/balancer for 600RWHP <6400RPM's?
What kind of hub/balancer for 600RWHP <6400RPM's?
Just as the title says ...
What kind of hub/balancer would you guys go with if you were building a 600RWHP low compressioned 383, either procharged (Intercooled) or twin turboed ( Intercooled) with a small shot on top of it (100ish) ?
I DO NOT want to spin it any higher than say like 6400ish.
I am trying to do all the little stuff now that I can, full bolt ons, rear end, etc. And I dont wanna get a ASP 23% if it wont be sufficient as a harmonic balancer for that kind of power/rpm. Im trying as hard as I can not to spend money where its not needed, and do other mods that will have to be done instead if its not worth my time to do some sort of underdrive that wont cut it for my motor once its built.

<6400 rpm
Just about any dampener would fit the bill. Even a stocker in good condition.
If you want aftermarket, I'd put ATI at the top of my list... any quality dampener would work fine though.

Re: What kind of hub/balancer for 600RWHP <6400RPM's?
the ati slips over the front of the crank in the lt1. i don't think they offer and underdrive, but it's not really worth it on an lt1. underdrive isn't worth much because it has such a short routing already.
Re: What kind of hub/balancer for 600RWHP <6400RPM's?
So it replaces the hub too?
Would it bolt right on?
Also, I know an underdrive isnt a big help, but every bit helps, and anything to turn that power steering pump slower is a step in the right direction.

yea it's a direct replacement.. And i don't believe it's avail in underdrive either.. and yes it replace's the whole assy.. it's keyed as well..
Now what would you guy's recommend for motor's spinning over 7K?

I would recomend a keyed hub. Just about any Damper will work just fine but the stock hub can spin and the Keyed version is only like $80 from Thunder racing

Btw it is offered for the ltx in a 10% underdrive...

I would look at ATI also...Those guys build some great stuff...Watched in awe last year at a track rental when they made probably 100 back to back passes testing transmissions and converters...Those guys are animals about durability and repeatability...
