Don't bother unless sprayed or boosted.

I allways do MSD 6A or AL ignitions on every car ive owned but im not familiar with these cars. just doing the ignition if its modded is dumb because it helps the car run strong and helps emissions, and keeps ignition systems running in top shape for the daily drivers.

Said it yourself, you are not familiar with this application.
In this application the stock ignition works pretty well NA, at least until you add a couple hundred HP.

I say this as someone who's FIRST mod to this car was an ignition system it was a waste of money and in the end only caused problems.

I'd have to agree, for a 1st mod that wouldn't be the one to do. But he said that was the next on his list so we don't really know what he has done so far. IMO, a person needs to list what all they are going to do before thinking about an ignition box. For any nitrous application, a Mallory 685 bgox is the best bang for the buck as it has the capability to retard timing and had a 2-step, rev limiter, and window switch built in. I know MSD has something along that line too but I believe the MSD costs a lot more for the same ezact features.

Mallory 685 and I bought the msd harness to plug directly into our coil. No cutting the stock harness. Summit makes the same box at less money with all extra features link map sensor and harness. The only difference is its black not red.

Yeah, Mallory 685 Hyfire here for my N2O. The Hyfire has a digital display and requires no pills. Like everyone says, the factory HEI is already up to the task unless going forced induction; and really the aftermarket ignition systems are more for control than power.

Here is the Summit (cheaper) version off the Mallory 685

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

The mallory does not come with the map sensor or map sensor harness for boost proportionable retard. This alone cost me over $150 Can

I concur..... When I had an Accel box, it helped alittle on fuel mileage, maybe 1 MPH more.... As for HP, from what I have read on testing, maybe 1~2 HP... Not sure, but I think it helped my cap/rotor to wear out faster.
