I didn't know that. Nor have I ever done this swap. I was just going by what I remember seeing different between the two different styles. Does he just need to cut his connector off and splice the new one on? Thanks Rob.

I would just buy the proper harness extension

you might need to knock the guides from the connector, but other then that, it is perfect

Re: What the Heck!!??

I am building up an LT4 to take the place of my 94 LT1 and discovered this need for new opti. I also had to purch a new timing cover. What applications would you need the dowel pin to be longet than the stock .650 (why would comp set it at .840)? I installed a comp cam and didnt check it....had no idea I might have to. The engine is all together and back in the car (haven't started it yet). Should I pull it apart and check this measurement?

Thanks!!

Re: What the Heck!!??

So get this: I got the new opti for the motor. Got to looking at things and it appears that the only problem is that the timing cover is wrong. I'm gonna take the old timing cover and put it on the new motor and use the old distributor and module. Talk about a headache over nothing. That, my friends, is the reason I am not employed at the local GM dealer. Thanks for all the help anyways. But stay tuned, this story ain't over yet.

Re: What the Heck!!??

Pulled mine back apart after confirming with CC that they DO set the dowel .840. Looks to have plenty of room. *shrug* So I left it be.

Re: What the Heck!!??

Ordered a 95 cover... they sent a 96 (with crank sensor hole that I had to plug ) and the vented opti. Used a bit of clay as someone mentioned to see if it bottomed out....didn't.
