What the heck is this???

K guys gimme some slack. I just changed my oil sensor, plugs, drive belt, fuel filter, engine, diff., and tranny oil. So I figure the car gonna run great. Start it and everythings cool. I take it down the road and its running good. I nail it and after I come off the gas it start fartin like its on 3 cylinders and I barely get it back to my house. So I'm thinkin a wire came off or something. Just by chance I lean over the engine and hear a hissin sound. There is a rubber eldow about 3 inches long on the drivers side top of the engine that comes out of the intake manifold kinda midway on the engine. The rubber was hot and soft and leaking a lil oil. I believe I've changed this before. What is it.

Thanks a lot all.

it sounds like a vacuum hose but why is there a lil oil in it and I know the oil deteriorates the rubber. Also this is the 2nd time and I have 79K on the car.

Was there a little metal baby bottle lookin' thing that SHOULD rattle when you shake it, either on the end of the hose, or where the hose came off? That would be the PCV hose. That's what it sounds like. Good luck!

thanks a lot guys, I guess its the PVC hose. But what is it for and is it just a coincidence that it went out after all those changes and nailed it for the first time? Also is it normal to go out, like I said this is the second time.

Thanks a lot

That lets air into your crankcase, and obviously its kinda hard to keep oil from goin through, all it did was get clogged, build up pressure, and then pop the hose off. Its about 8 bucks to replace...no biggy!

Heck I don't mind. I know another cop that comes out some times, he has an all white LS1 SS hard top, can’t remember his name off the top of my head. And the N2O is the only way I can keep up with the LS1 guys. It's tough being the only LT1 running at the track. That's why I'm always looking for some LT1 guys to come out. Shot me an e-mail when you think you might be able to come out. You'll see us when you come through the gate we always park together right in front.

$8 ???? That thing better be gold plated. Last time I checked they were $2-$5 from Napa.
