Mac mids or pacesetter long tubes.... depends on emissions needs.

It would depend on your emissions I would say. If you don't have regulations, then I would opt for long tubes with an off-road y-pipe or a true dual setup. If you do have emissions, then I would stick with a set of shorties or mids.

If you want to keep your y-pipe go with the SLP shorties. They fit in place of the stock manifolds, are stainless steel, pass visual emissions and are available used. Keep an eye on our for sale forum and on e-bay.

Go for the MAC headers.
They flow almost as well as LTs and provide great plug access as well as good (around 30 RWHP) gains on stock engines.
They provide even better gains when combined with a HotCam kit.
I have both the hot cam kit and MAC mid length headers on my fresh all-forged bottom end (yeah overkill) 11.5/1 static CR 383 LT1.

Rust, or a little discoloration? My first set of headers, if you want to call them that (shorties) were coated and wound up having some brown spots on them, it wasn't rust though.

brownish spots is what i saw, i thought it was the beginnings of rust, but hopefully i'm wrong.

On a better note i change my spark plugs in under an hour! FROM THE TOP. made a "slp" style socket and used a gearwrench!

Probably rust, my Pacesetters started rusting all over in less then a years time and this car never sees rain or snow and has very limited driving time.
