Exclamation What Headers?!?!?

I am looking to add some headers to my SS. I want the cost top be reasonable and curious whats out there. I have heard bad things about edelbrock so i'm staying away. I have come down to either SLP shorties, BBK, or Hooker LTs.
Now i know everyone likes the Hookers and so do I. But to get then they are exspensive. Especially with ceramic coating. Let me know what i should do. I also need to know if ceramic coating is neccessary because thats an extra $200. Just give me some ideas. I plan on staying with my SLP TOTL exhaust still because i love the sound:confused:

I have seen good things written about MAC headers.

I will be purchasing MAC headers in the coming months.

MACs the way to go as far as I know. *i'm a poet and i didn't even know it*

If price is an issue definately go with the MAC's. They yield the best performance of a shorty/mid-length header for our cars. I bought mine for $389 with the Y-pipe included. Then I spent another $160 getting them ceramic coated. I highly suggest getting them coated or you'll regret it. Don't forget that you get a 20% discount from Jet-Hot coating since you are a member and they are sponsor of this board. Also you won't see a big difference between a Mid-length header and a LT header unless you have motor mods done (i.e. Heads, Cam, stroker motor). Email me if you have any other questions.

BTW. Any header is going to be UNGODLY loud with the SLP exhaust.

Why do you strongly suggest getting them coated?

Keep your eye out for Jethot's own house brand of long tubes. coated they're $496 to your door. Sounds reasonable to me. They're on the list of things this winter.

I suggest getting them coated for a couple of reasons......1 It will keep them from rusting. 2 It will keep temps. down under your hood. 3 It just looks better. I know that it says the MAC's come HTS coated, but that's not the same as ceramic. I did mine mainly to keep them from rusting and looking like ****.

If cost and emmissions aren't important Long tubes all the way. I hate having to "settle" for somthing just because I can't afford it at that moment. Wait, save up, and buy the LT's, you won't regret it. Long tubes =

Agreed!! You will like the LT's a whole lot better. I put those on my car with the Mufflex y-pipe ( When it was still a LT-1 ) and it was just badass!!! Of course I had motor mods done so I probably felt a bigger SOTP gain more then you would.

If you are going to do it,do it right and do it ONCE.Get the LT's and coat them. The added cost for coating is worth it.They last longer, work better, and run cooler. If you go with a mid length, later on you will kick yourself when you have to do it all over.My opinion.

Thumbs up

I was in the same "What headers?" deal a few months back and told myself that I wouldn't be happy with anything but LT's. Wait and save your money and go for the LT's, you won't be sorry.
