This is what happens when you push more power than a stock SB can handle

This happened to me on my head/cam 350. It was mainly my fault caused by a dead fuel pump...

Oooooh, Ahhhhhhh.
Whew, that's nasty looking. Any details on how it all went down?
Hope the new motor is just what you're looking for.
383, can you say "Low End TQ?" Oh yeah.

Ouch! It hurts to look at that! That connecting rod looks like it could be welded back together and re-used. Other than that, the other parts are pretty much scrap.
Re: This is what happens when you push more power than a stock SB can handle
Im mainly upset about the head. The rod is twisted and not worth re-using, by any means.
This is how it went down.
1: Ran the fuel system dry because of a faulty gas gauge (my guage reads prefect until empty and then reads 1/4 until it dies) and burned out the fuel pump
2: Lean conditions caused something to go wrong internally (18 PSI at WOT) so i got a racetronix setup.
3: Then I was trying to troubleshoot the problem and I brought it up to 5k rpm (6850 was my usual redline) and everything exploded. Tried to restart and nothing.
There was oil and coolant pouring out of a gaping hole at the top of my oil pan. I went to take it apart and found those... some of the pieces were actually inside the block because the rod had taken a HUGE chunk out of the cylinder wall.
Im not TOO upset because I found a killer deal on a fully assembled 383.
I think im gonna use the block and turn it into a coffee table... what do you think?

I think im gonna stick with the 306 in the 383. Im debating on going with an 847, but im a little short on cash because i need an electric WP, (SB came with badass SBC double roller w/o water pump drive) oil pan, and various other crap.
