what gears do i have?

Question what gears do i have?

How do i know what gears i have in my 1995 z28? Its a 6spd btw..

from the factory they are 3:42's with the six speed.

if you think you have different gears from a previous owner, get a professional to open up the rear end and see what ya have in there.

I found a hamster and treadmill in mine. Kinda looked like the same hideous thing I saw on the Quiznos commercial. Anyhow, A4 I think has 2.73 and M6's have 3.23. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I have a 6-speed and mine came with 3.42, got 3.73's now.

One says 3.42 One says 3.23 uhm.. which one is it? and how much of a difference is there? ANDDDDDDDDDDDD what would be a better gear? or do you think those ratios are good?

factory 6 speed is 3.42, auto was either 3.23 or 2.73

It's 3.42. Look at your RPO code sticker.

GU2 : AXLE REAR, 2.73 RATIO

GU5 : AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO

GU6 : AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO

Replacing your factory gears......

For 6spd, 4:10's are good gear..(best bang for the buck$!)

autos, 3:73's are not bad..but im not sure how 4:10's would do on a A4

Someone help me out here, but If cruising along at 70 mph in fourth gear with an M6 you can tell by reading what your tach is saying?

i believe if u have higher gears u will cruise at a higher rpms.......correct me if im wrong
