What extras do i need for a cam swap?

Should i replace the opti and waterpump while i'm at it? Do i need to change valve springs...i only ask this because i heard '93's use stronger springs. I havent decided on a cam yet, but it will either be a cc305 or the XE equvielent.

If your opti and w/p are working fine you probably don't need to replace them... just remember to take the opti off first so it doesn't get doused with coolant that might still be in the water pump housing .

As far as valve springs goes, I'm not sure what the exact seat pressure / coil bind info is on them. That can depend a lot on your rocker arms too. I just went ahead and upgraded my entire valvetrain. Make sure that the springs you get don't require any machining to your heads.

If you're like me you're gonna need <rant> a new opti, water pump, coil, plug wires, and about 10 gaskets </rant>

But I'm not bitter..........

Thanks guys...looks like I'll change the valve springs, opti and water pump out to save me the hassle in the future.

Exactly what i;d do. If i were u, i'd probably do the 95+ Opti conversion, although its not needed. Just a suggestion. Good luck

you will need new valvesprings, RRs(not necessary but worth it), pushrods, lifters(recommended if you have a high lift cam), timing set(again highly recommended), all the gaskets, all the lubes, silicone, the right tools!
