What else do I need???
What else do I need???
OK, I didn't plan on doing a cam, but I ran across a deal that was hard to beat. A guy in town bought the whole LT4 kit a while back ago and was going to put it on a 383 w/ a blower. Well he has the motor almost done and instead of using the LT4 Hotcam, he went with a custom grind. So....I bought the Hotcam and springs off him for a 100 bones. I plan on doing the swap sometime this summer but would like to start buying the parts I need now a little at a time so that way when the summer rolls around I'll have everything already. AND, I have a set of 4.10's sitting in my back garage that I am saving money to install also. I am most likely going to do everything at once.
What all do I need for the 4.10 and cam install. I have an electric water pump so I am getting a Coyles double roller timing chain, Comp Pro Mag 1.6 RR's, Comp pushrods, lifters, retainers, locks, and a new gasket kit. Did I leave anything out???

Re: What else do I need???
thats a decent list right there. ive never doen it so im sure other will chime in who have experience. just remember whatever you think its gonna cost add a lot more. i started with headers that cost 300 dollars and went over a grand because i didnt realize all the extra crap i needed, but you have a nice starting point. take your time and have fun.
Re: What else do I need???
Thunder Racing sells the cam swap gasket kit. All AC Delco stuff. Just buy that kit and you won't have to hunt n' peck for gaskets.
You've got everything you need in the list, except for RTV, coolant, and oil. The other thing I would suggest is some fuel injector o-rings.

Re: What else do I need???
cool. yeah i have plenty of rtv, coolant, and oil at my disposal (1/2 owner of a full service gas station). what length of pushrods should i get, just the stock length??
Re: What else do I need???
Stock length pushrods are fine.
How do you like that Night Train? My Dad just got a fully loaded '06 Heritage Softail Classic last week. He thinks his life is 'complete' now.

Re: What else do I need???
LOL, that's how my dad was when he finally got his Fat Boy in June of 04. I love the thing!! I used to own a 02 Gixxer 600 but felt I was getting a little too stupid on it. I saw plenty of friends go down and even one that had to be lifewatched to a different city and spent almost a month in ICU there. It was time to move on. I decided to get a Harley mainly because my dad had one and I loved riding his. We plan at least two trips a year up to the rockies and attend plenty of poker runs. Its a great time.
And, there is just something about a Harley, people seem to pay more respect when you ride by LOL.

Yeah my Dad lives in Kansas City, not too many twisty roads there, but he's wanting to come down here in May and we're gonna take a nice long ride through the mountains, possibly an over-nighter.
