what is the easiest way to check push rod lenght?
ok so i ordered a push rod checker from comp cams...its good from 6.8 to like 7.5.... im wondering what is the easiest way to check for the right push rod length? im hearing stuff about having to use a flat tapet lifter and that i can use a roller lifter and im confused as hell??? i do have a full set of my "old lifters"

Start here. For best results, you want a solid lifter or a converted to solid lifter. If you dont use a solid lifter, IMHO, it will slightly skew the findings a little or a lot. I would pull the intake and do it right.
I like using dry erase marker or ring pinion gear marking compound on the tips to check the patterns.
Ideally, you want minimal sweep and a centered pattern but you will find there has to be some balance. As the pattern moves more toward the header, typically the sweep will decrease. Just dont go too far.
Post some pattern pics and we can comment.
