what do ya'll think?

alright heres the thing. the guy that helped me install my motor and get it running is telling me that my valves are too tight because the rockers on the passenger side are ticking. he also says that when you put your hand over the exhuast pipe it should push your hand away and not be easy to cover it up.

the drivers side is not like that, it pushes your hand away. now i thought that if the rockers were ticking they were lose and needed to be tightened? this guy doesn't speak any english, so i can only understand some of what he says.

is there any truth to what he is speculating?
thanks
mike

Improperly adjusted valves can lead to the rocker arm noise.

Do you have true dual exhaust on the car?
[Stock is a single exhaust with 2 outlets...]
I ask because not many people have true duals on these cars..
If it's a stock exhaust, or most of the aftermarket ones, which have a single intermediate pipe [just the muffler has 2 outlets] that whole theory is blown..

he means that once it goes in that y-pipe then both are equal....one tail pipe with more pressure means nothing

No oil pressure would cause valvetrain noise too!!! Please make sure you can verify oil pressure before running it anymore. Screw in that mechanical gage before you touch the key again.

I just noticed you're from Mcallen. I used to test cars down there for hot weather. Reminded me of once when we were following a stake truck full of melons. Every once in a while a melon would fall off and roll down the road in front of us. We took turns hitting 'em for about 30 minutes. What fun! Had a carbon hood skin fly off the same day. Thinking of Mcallen made me laugh, thanks.
