what to do? tired of opti problems.
Hi Fireman,
Did you get your new Opti on yet?
I hope that we can resolve this problem pretty soon...it gets old buying new Optis and harnesses all the time. I hope that i'm through changing mine now. Since I installed the Opti last Friday, I've put 300 miles on the car. So far, so good. I think that mounting the Opti further away from the cam may have helped...but it's still a little too early to tell. Like i said in the earlier post, there was nearly .100" gap behind the Opti mounting ears when it was pushed into place. It would seem that it would have a lot of heat build up in the Opti because of this. I'll be sure to give you an update soon.

Well, I figured it out.
The one way check valve in the vacuum line from the opti to the intake manifold was installed backwards. My opti could not breathe at all.
Check your vacuum line and make sure the one way valve and the flow reducer in the line are installed and functioning properly.
I also dug up an old post where someone had burned their opti in 2 weeks after not installing the one way valve and flow reducer in the vacuum line. They also had the same blue corrosion on the connector.
Hope this helps!
BTW- My car is running again

Congrats on getting your car running again. Now you can shoot for that 11.9 time slip.
I just installed a one way check valve and restrictor along with the last Opti, so hopefully mine will last a long time.
