What to do with O2's
What to do with O2's
Hey guys I am new to this websight, but I am not new to modifying vehicles. I just bought this car last week, and I am trying to get my plans together for what I am going to be doing next. I want to install 2.5 or possibly 3" true duals, remove the Cats, install a Dr. Gas X pipe, and then run turndowns w/ Dynomax bullet mufflers. I know that this is a proven combination and after running searches on here and numerous other websights that is what I have decided on. My question is that if my car is one of the single cat cars, then what do with the O2 sensors in order to run the true duals. Yes I realize that the rear O2 is only for monitoring how effective the cat is and the front O2 is for determining the A/F mixture. But will it matter which bank the O2's will go on after I install True duals?
Thanks for the help guys, I am looking forward to being a member here.

Put the O2s in the collectors of the headers. Your car shouldnt have rear O2s if its a '95. If your car isnt the one in your sig you can either get O2 simulators or get LT1edit and program your computer not to read the rear O2s.

Sorry I didn't clarify, but yes the car in my sig is the car I am talking about. When I said that I wasn't new to modiflying vehicles I meant that all my previous experience was with my previous truck and other trucks, but I am new to the LT1 and these cars in general.
So all I will need to do is move the front O2 sensors into the collectors of the headers?
Is there any way to run true duals on my car without getting a set of headers? Could the O2's be placed in the exhaust pipes themselves as close as possible to the collector of the factory manifold? I am just trying to see what all I need, and it would help me for a little while if I could wait on headers. If that is not possible then I will start my mods somewhere else.
Thanks alot for the help.

Your 95 has two O2 sensors. The one on the drivers side is right at the base of the exhaust manifold. The one on the passenger side is 1/2-way down the y-pipe, below where it connects to the exhaust manifold.
Im a little confused by your question:
Are you saying you want to build a true dual setup using the stock manifolds? Why?
But if that is what you mean, you need to leave the drivers side sensor where it is, and relocate the drivers side from the stock y-pipe to the new head pipe you would have to have fabricated.
The pre-cat O2 sensors have nothing to do with the cat, and only need to be at a point where they will heat up to the required operating temperature (600degF) quickly, and stay there under low loads.
You must keep one on the drivers side, and one on the passenger side. Each bank (left or right) of the engine is controlled independantly.

Thanks, sorry for the confusion in my question, I was just trying to see if I could peice together my exhaust instead of having to do it all at one time. I am in college right now so money is tight and I knew that I couldn't afford to do a setup of LT ceramic coated headers and a True dual exhaust at the same time, that is why I was asking.
Maybe I should start my modding else where on the car if it would not be good to do the ehaust in seperate pieces. I just know that I want true duals so I don't want to spend any money on a cat-back.
