Not familiar with GMPP RRs, but most of the RRs used will fit under the stock covers (sometimes you need to do a little modding to the inside of the covers, but no biggy). You should probably put stronger springs in (consider HOW strong based on whether you plan on installing a cam and use the recommended spring pressures based on that cam.

You only use guide plates if the RRs are NON-self aligning. Self-aligned do not need guide plates or hardened push rods.JMHO

Call Sallee Chevrolet. They can probably advise you. They also carry lots of GMPP at good prices and fair S&H charges.

I got mine from Jason Cromer at Taylor Buick in Ft. Walton Fl. He sells them in a kit with everything you need but the new valve seals. It was $370.25 shipped here to me in Hawaii. No you don't need new valve covers or guide plates. But I did end up getting the LT4 covers because I got tired of the valve noise.

The rockers should be self-aligning so you won't need guideplates. If your rocker arms are made for 7/16" studs you will need those studs. Stock LT1 is 3/8".
You will need new springs. LT4 springs are adequate and inexpensive.
You may need to modify the valve cover supports for clearance. I did mine with a grinder and a cutting wheel.

I have stock studs so I got the 3/8" 1.6 rockers and the stock cover worked fine, just kind of noisy. What exactly do you all ready have? That way I can tell you what else you need.
