What do I do next???

Hello to all. I'm new to the whole bizz. I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and found out a lot of new and interesting information.

Well with that said, I need help!!! I don't know what to do next. I keep reading opposing views. So I figured I would just post my own problem.

I have a fairly stock A4 97 Z28 (my few mods are listed in sig) and need some opinions on what I should do next. I have 2k-3k to spend and that is to include everything i.e. parts, labor, tax, etc......

I'm open to all suggestions.

Also one more thing.....I have an auto trans. would there be any problems if I shift manually??? like from Overdrive to Drive on the freeway.

Oh and here are some of the threads i've been reading.

You have a CAI and catback, next step is headers.

Then 3.73 gears and if you want, a higher stall torque converter.

if it were me, I'd pull off the heads, intake manifold and cam. Get the heads and intake ported and matched, install the LT4 hot cam and get a bigger throttle body and injectors with AFPR.

Have a custom program written for your setup and go get um!

If you plan on racing your car, I would recomend starting on your suspension. Lower control arms, torque arm bar, and subframe connecters. Modding your engine is fine, but you can not put the power to the road without a good suspension system. Have fun. and be Safe.

I would also cam and head work. Throw some headders in there too! If you budget your money and do it yourself, you can stay under 3k.

Thanks guys for the input.

Ok so you all agree on the headers.

I can't do any of the work myself. I live in an apt. complex and have no place to do the work nor do I have the technical know how to do that kind of work.

My camaro is a going to be a weekend car that I bring out when I feel like having fun. Not really the track in mind, just the streets.

Does anyone know about manually shifting an Auto Trans?

i live in an apt and i do all my work here just get a few freinds and some beer most rear suspension parts are bolt in and require no advanced knowledge, besides SFC's which usually weld in. i would agree headers and LCA's along with some SFC's...id get some drag radials too...as far as paying to get anything else done...with that budget you might be able to do a cam on top of the other stuff, but it'd be close

No need to manualy shift a 4l60e. You can change the shift points to what ever you want.

Hey guys, I went to get a quote on how much a header install would run. The guy at the shop told me around 1300. That was for a set of MAC headers, labor, and some new gaskets. Is that a good price.

And how hard is it to do it myself. I found out that we have a garage on post that we can use. I'm sure they have every tool i'll need.

Man, if you are gonna spend $1300 for headers/installation, then you just need to buy the headers yourself and install them. There is no way on Earth I would pay that much for headers. If you get the Mac headers, I hope you plan on coating them.

Ok...so I'm gonna try to install the headers myself. Now I just need some kind of instructions. Does anyone know any sites where I can get that.

Oh yeah. and would be a good set of headers?? Is there anything I should be looking for when I buy them?
