Lightbulb What could prevent Hard Acceleration whe you floor it from a STOP??

What would be the first thing you would look at if you floor it from a stop and it hesitates for just that split second??

When I first got my Z, it ran like a dream and would leave a patch for half a block before I let off the gas. AHH, The good old days!!!

I just installed a new MAP sensor and it's running alot better now, but not perfect??

Any thoughts??

Any trouble codes coming up? Have you checked the compression?

I had my fuel injectors proffesionally cleaned (they hooked up some machine directly to the fuel rails), and that really made my car come alive. I'm sure now when I get my new plugs and wires installed, that she'll be plenty strong. Definitely also check the options listed above.

Ideas??

I'm going to have it scanned tomorrow for 25 bucks at Transmissions Plus.

They rebuilt my transmission 3 Years ago and it still pulls hard. They also installed my low oil sensor when no one else in town would touch it ie: Faslube, Jiffy Lube, Valvoline--they cited liability... Even the Faslube I had gone to for 4 years now!!!!

I thinking about having my cat looked at, at Buckeye Muffler, they installed my Flowmaster Exhaust 5 Years ago. Pretty honest guys, and have done adjustments on other cars in our household for free!!! I bought em 3 pizzas one time and they appreciated it!!!

When you find a good mechanic, stick with em!!!

A poor coil can make it sluggish on hard take offs and lethargic on the top end at WOT. Normal, light throttle cruising might seem the same.

What would you look for on freescan that would indicate "poor" coil. ?

I doubt there's anything with a scanning tool that can pick up on a problem coil, unless you're getting misfires at the plugs.

I might try a new coil and changing the fuel filter.

The plugs and wires are just a couple of months old, and I have checked my wires in the dark and got no light show...

-Catalytic Converter

I heard that if you run the AC and rev the engine, if you hear a rattle from your exhaust, your cat's clogged up.

I tried it and all I heard was motor!!

Car drives fine except, you know, that momentary split second "bog or cough" when you put your foot to the floor, that's just enough to make you notice.

Everybody here knows exactly what I'm talking about, we all know our cars like the back of our hand!!! The same way you would know, if there was a new scratch on it!!

Trust me, that ever so slight hesitation, would be enough to embarass you in front of your friends, especially if they were riding with you in your car, or in front of the ricer in the lane next to you!!!
