What could this part be (under car) ???
What could this part be (under car) ???
Car is a 97TA A4. I was under the car yesterday checking out some possible leak and noticed a plastic component with a electric connector and what appears to be 2 vacuum ports. It is located on the driver's side near the exhaust manifold. It was not connected at all, just bolted there. The wiring harness that fits it is hanging (unconnectd and plugged off) next to it. What is this and should it be connected? The car is completely stock (all EGR still there) except CAI and catback.
Re: What could this part be (under car) ???
I have no way of hosting a pic. It looked like it was bolted to the back/side of the intake. Thanks for the help though. Keep the ideas coming

Thanks for the pic but it doesnt look like that. I could only see it from under the car, between the driver header and the engine block. It is about the size of a fist, but not round. Thanks for the inputs.

well, i dont think that mine (1993) is belt driven, it is electric driven, but yea it is black and looks somewhat like an altenator with two hoses coming out the back of it, also called the A.I.R pump, look it up on yahoo, or something...a see a pic, it sits on the drivers side, right at the front under the CAI
