I went with MSD, works fine. I would say if you are in the market anyway, you might as well upgrade to an aftermarket, be it Crane or MSD or whatever.

When my coil went out I put a MSD coil on it from a friend for a few days. I then put one on from Autozone. Well's brand I believe. No difference at all. Save the money and go with a stocker. The only reason you should need a "better" coil is when you're running big power. Although there have been freak instances where stock coils just wont work with somewhat stock cars. Either way, try both if you get real antsy.

I also bought an ICM from auto for $75 or so. Works fine.

Buy a GM coil. Just because something is "aftermarket" does not mean it's an upgrade. As far as the MSD looking cool... the only time you're gonna even look at it is when you're pulling it out of the box.

96-97 GM coils are very good coils. There is no gain to going aftermarket. IMO, OEM is the best you can get in regards to coils.

TR55s are good and cheap. I've been running them since the summer and they're great so far!
