I have a 93z28 A4 with 85k miles on it and I was wandering what I could do to It for major HP gains. Ty

You can get started, but in the end, you'll probably be way over that starting point.

Send me a check for 799.39!!!! I took the cost of a 41 cent stamp into consideration!! HAHA

This is the order I would do stuff in.

Basic maintence, so many people don't do this when they first get a car. Change all the fluids in the car, spark plugs, fuel filter, maybe even plug wires.

then start modding: cai, catback, longtubes, y pipe, gears, stall, tune, subframes, LCA's

around here I can easily get a very well running motor for 4k. You could buy an ls1 for less then 4k even, I think with 8k he could easily be at 400+ wheel hp, and have money for supporting items. Not every motor costs 15k, you must have a very powerful motor for 15k. Now that I look at your mod list, thats a full built race motor practicly.

I thought that when I was saving for a 383 also
you will see when you actually get 2 feet into the project
those suporting mods add up fast and if you do the motor you kinda need to do the tranny and rearend also or you will blow them up

I think with 8k do gears,stall,et streets,injectors,fuel pump,cai,roller rockers,hardened pushrods, headers and a heads and cam package
and maybe a nx wet kit

save for a new rear and tranny

just an idea, everything in my sig i did at one time and it cost me like $6500 but i did all the work myself, if you can do that yourself then you could also do trans rebuild and save for a rear

^^^ them were the mods I was thinking but putting a cam in lt1's is a hit or miss, so I was basicly taking the extra step, kind of a gamble, but if he wants that is easily a possibility. Just curious, how much hp is that motor pushing if your willing to tell?

451 rwhp@7400 but it reaches 400rwhp at only 5600 I think the key is how fast you make power not how much power

if it were me, i'd do an lq4 swap, throw in a small-medium cam. put the rest in bolt ons and suspension.

and then after you break the 10 bolt after having too much fun, get a 9" or 12 bolt

Pick up a Golen (http://www.golenengineservice.com/ht...rt_blocks.html) 383 forged component short block for $3600, LE (http://www.eportworks.com/lt1.html) heads/cam kit for ~$1800 - $2000 and spend the rest on supporting mods, CAI, headers.... At the same time start saving money for a trans and rear end . Cause your going to burn the up.

I belive that would go over the 8K spending limit

and why not just get the golen engine long block? lloyd elliot ports their heads anyways.

It depends on what you are looking for....Is it a DD, or just something to play around on the street/ strip? Are you worried about emissions or driveability? That all plays a factor in HOW you go fast..
