To whoever asked above.

Yes it is the stock internals, on a 50,000+ LT1.
It is 8 pounds of intercooled boost, with the msd box retarding a safe amount of timing, a very conservative tune, so I am good for a while. SHOULD be...knock on wood. When it does blow, I will do what everyone else does, build a 355 or 383 with a D1 or bigger form of forced induction.

Where in CA are you? Do you know if you have a dyno smog? LA and SF bay are both using dyno smogs now which seem to be better for those of us using larger cams from what I've heard. A member in Hayward passed a dyno smog at a test only station with a XE 230/236 and said he had some wiggle room still.

Yeah, whatever. Like I said, good luck buddy. Come back with your "definitely gonna pass" confidence after you get your smog done. Until then it's just hoping.

I'm in CA and have the dyno smog; been tested/passed 4 times with my Vortech blower and 218/230/114 cam. My friend just tested here with a 383, Vortech, 224/236/114 cam and passed no problem.

That's me the teal one; and the 383 I spoke of is the silver F1 that's in the same issue of Camaro Performers.

I think this might be the first time I've seen bench racing applied to emissions testing.

My car has 3 times as many miles and it passed smog w/out any problem at all. My previous Z28 bearly failed (it was close to passing) with really, really bad plug wires and no cat. A nearly stock LT1 car has to be running pretty bad to fail smog, even in CA.

I belong to a 3rd gen club here in Southern California and a number of our members are running cams ranging from the hot cam up to the 230XFI cam and are passing smog. They are running either modified TPI or the Accel Super Ram. Vincent with his 355 is at the 373RWHP and 414RWTQ mark with more to come. He has a custom 226 degree cam from Lunitai. These motors are based on the L-98.

The hot cam kit is OK for the price. The springs arent very good. I was in the very same boat you are in a few months ago. Im sure you can search the forum and read my posts and what not. For what its worth: I too was going to go with the hot cam, but then realized if I was going to cam it then I might as well do heads. Then I found out about LE and decided if I was going to take that route that I would definately not do the hot cam, but instead get a custom h/c setup. I went with the blower instead and am completely satisfied. If you need it now, are worried about emissions, and have a weekend or two, just buy a used (or new if you have the money) s/c kit and some injectors. I found mine on here for 2 grand. I would do forced induction. Just my .02
