I just paid $900 to have the tranny built stronger than stock.
ie. better clutch materials, stronger bands, etc.

OEM parts will be very good in price, but labor will kill you. I say the same thing as white97z/28.

$1k? damn, I should've flown my car to texas.

I was quoted $2800 for a budget rebuild, but they told my my block was so damaged, that the quote somehow inflated up to $4800. After a lot of dispute and BAR mediation, we finally compromised on $3300. So its not bad - but it took the shop 4 months.

Make sure you do research on whatever shop you decide to take it to, and check with your local BBB/BAR to see if they have a valid license and any registered complaints.

Good luck!

Just payed 1700 w/ a 1 yr/12K mile warranty.. i pulled it.. So if you do the work you save a butt ton of money.. I needed a new crank, rod's , and of course the piston's are new as well. This is just stock crap.. I had a spare block as well. i cracked mine figure 2K or so w/ you doing the work and about 2500-3K w/ dropping it off and picking it up.. Not bad IMHO..
