Here's the RPO code.

MXO Transmission - Automatic O/D (Merchandising Option)

Is it a 4L60E?

That was the only automatic transmission available? What about a manual? Thanks.

you cant tell the difference yourself whether or not it is a manual or an auto?? lol, a 4l60e is a automatic, and that is what you have..

No, dumbass. I was asking if there were any OTHER automatic transmissions offered and what the manual transmissions offered were. Was it really that arduous to comprehend?

M30 : TRANSMISSION-AUTOMATIC 4-SPEED,4L60-E, ELECTRONIC

M30 is the actual RPO for the trans, itself. MX0 is a "merchandising option".

All LT1 manual 1995's came with a 6 speed (RPO MM6)

Those were the only tranny offerings for the LT1.

What's the 6-speed transmisson called? What does the "merchandising option" mean exactly? Thanks.

93 A4 LT1s had the 4L60 which is another name for the good old TH700R4. 94+ was the 4L60E which is the same thing but the shifts are computer-controlled, which is why I can't get ratchet shifter

As far as I know all the V8 4th gen standards are Tremec T-56 6-speeds.

The 6 speed is a T56. The merchandising option is probably something for the bean counters or a way to make sure they put on all auto transmission related options/parts.

Heh. Yeah, it would be pretty funny. "Do I have a manual or automatic transmisson?"

The 3rd gen forum would probably be more suited to answering this question. You might find more help by posting a new thread there. This unrelated thread has been dead for a year.
