What is this?

I have a chiltons book that I'm reading on how to get my exhaust manifolds out (going to install headers) and for the right side.. it says to remove the serpentine drive belt... wtf is that? I've never heard of it... what does it do? How easy is it to remove? Thanks!

Its the belt that runs all the accesories. You can't miss it, it goes right over the top of the alternator.

To take it off, there is a belt tensioner at the bottom of the system that you will need to put a 13mm wrench on and turn. It will loosen the tension on the belt and you can slip it off one of the pully's

Well, in this case it is a serpentine belt, used to drive the accessories.

13mm? I've always used 1/2".
