It is somewhat easy to fill that stud hole with lots of goop and then screw that stud in and hydrolock the hole and bust a piece of head off and into your engine. Please don't ask me how I know. Not as easy if there is a huge opening to the intake port but much easier if there is only a tiny hole.

Maybe blow out the hole and spray with brake clean to help the sealant seal and get the oil cleaned out.

oil was probably in your exhasut stud hole but like was stated it does not have a path to the exhast port. (or intake port).

I am extremely confused here... how would sealing the threads hydrolock the hole??

I am thinking of just putting a bead of silicone between the plate and the head, and between the plate and the washer, and between the washer and the stud. I am not going to put anything on the threads, as that would be a pain in the rear to have to clean that out of there if I ever have it apart again. Is this a bad idea?

Re: what 2 use 2 keep oil from getting sucked into the intake port via rocker stud hole?

It's very unlikely that you could pop a piece of head off into the intake if the thread hole is "open" to the intake. But it's more likely to happen if the thread hole is barely open or 'not' open to the intake. The sealant could get compressed under the bolt with no where to escape and the pressure might find relief by busting the head. You ever hear the sealant seeping out like a gas while you tighten? So I just caution others to don't do like "someone" and pour the goop down in the thread hole or glob a huge pile on the rocker stud. I try to learn from the old gray haird codgers. (self included).

OHH... I see now. Yeah, the hole is already opened, pretty big too. But, I just placed a nice little bead on the top and bottom of the plate. That way it seals up both ways. No gobs down the thread holes at all, but I did seal up the exhuast and the intake. Im sick of doin this piddly crap so I did it right the first time!

Thanks again everyone for the help!
