If its a stock LT1, then only 1 out of 10 stock LT1s will run a high 13. Most run mid to low 14s. If you're running low 13s and he has no tricks up his sleeve then its a free 1000$

If he is really "stock" then the best he is going to run would be mid to high 13's, and thats if he is a really good driver and his car is a freak. An average time for a "stock" LT1 6speed is a low 14, very high 13. There's a pretty good chance the guy has done something to his car though, just look at all the modded LT1's here If he has a cold air intake and headers or other bolt on mods he could be running in the lower 13's. I'd look over his car pretty good before putting up $1k. Then again, I would never race anyone for that kind of money.

Both, RacinLT1 (Dirk) and I ran 13s stock, and we both have A4s. He's got a 1997 TA, I've got a 1994 Camaro. That's 2 out of 10, so your numbers are off. A buddy of mine back in Milwaukee had a 1993 Z28 with a 6spd and only had a Flowmaster muffler and a K&N, and he was running 13.65 @ 103mph. Clearly he also had a 13 second car off the showroom floor. That's now 3 out of 10.

Anyway, anybody with a STOCK Z28 is NOT going to run for $1000, and if he/she does, then the car is hardly near stock, or is at least packing a nice shot of N2O. Or of course, the other scenario is that this guy is bluffing about the $1000.

Do what you want, but I'd be real careful about racing someone that wanted to race for $1000.

Thats not 3 out of 10, thats 3 out of 3. If I list for you 5 guys that ran 14s stock and none that ran 13s then thats 5 out of 5. You've been on this board long enough to know that majority of the LT1s run low 14s. Majority of the high 13 second LT1s already have mods done to them. Besides 1 out of 10 is not a proven fact, its just a rough estimate, it could be 1 out of 7 or 1 out of 30.

I ran 15.1 stock so I wasn't even part of the survey

Agreed. Most run 14s and a few run 13s. List ten random members and the majority will be 14sec cars if they are stock.

If I knew how to launch it when my car was stock it would have been in the 13's stock. First time at the track I ran a best of 14.1 but that was with a pretty crappy 60' time of 2.1 or so. Good launch under 2.0 would have put it in the 13's. So the car was probably a high 13 sec car stock, just the driver at the time wasnt. Of course stock didnt last long, the next time back I had several boltons

I think if it runs high 13s or low 14s depends on the gearing. My stock automatic '95 Z28 has 3.23. I might be able to run high 13s if I can launch well enough. Who knows.

I have had and have lt1 and ls1 cars. There are lots of variables in racing. One huge one is tires. Is he on stock tires ,are you.And what altitude are you at.Altitude and other factors like temp, humidity ,bar pressure have big effects on times.

At my altitude of 2000ft most all lt1 cars stock on street tires run mid 14s.Ls1s do low 14s occassionaly high 13s.

If his car is stock ,stock street tires and you have run 13.29 with your current setup you will destroy him.Unless somehow you spin them off for too long or miss gears, etc. If you are auto then your odds are even better.Six speed cars suck for racing.its hard to get off the line consistently without massive spin or bog and it takes skill to not miss shifts or do the 3 to 2 etc.

He is a fool for racing you for $1000 if his car is stock. Now on race type tires or something like nitto drag radials he could possibly do a mid 13 maybe. That might make the race closer.

Just take his money and laugh all the way to the bank.

he would be a moron to race you for a grand stock,be carefull its easy to get a stock appearing lt1 to run high twelves. If he shows up with drag radials and an idle that sound more aggresive than stock tell him to take a hike. There is a guy in my town running a hot cam 1.6 rockers k & n filter and a borla exhaust and he runs 12.50's and it looks bone stock under the hood!he even ported the stock manifolds built a custom 3inch y pipe and deleted the cat.He has programming also but these are things that arent easy to see at first glance,I raced him once motor to motor and didnt expect it to be as close as it was I took him but not by much.

I just recently ran 14.09 @ 104.21 w/ 2.52 60'
on crappy street tires.

It all comes down to traction.

Define stock.

Stock motor?
Stock motor and gears?
Stock motor + nitrous oxide?

Hmmmm...
