Went to the track last night

Bah, went to the track last night. Prep was great, weather was nice and cool. Was a little windy, but it wasnt blowing in my direction.

Last year I ran 13.8 @ 99mph with 2.0 60ft. this was with my 3.73w/ half *** programming (shiftpoints were off so I had to let off and on before the 3rd gear shift or else it would hit rev limiter), CAI, and a flowmaster muffler.

Tonight I ran the new combo. Which is, Nitto 555R DR's, JetHot LT's, True duals. My first 2 runs were 14.0 @100mph. I had set the shift points to low. So I bumped them up a little more. And ran 2 concistant 13.8's @ 101 mph 2.0 60ft. I hooked up real good too. So I'm pissed that I didnt imporve my e.t. Im sure the shiftpoints needed to be bumped up alittle more, but still I shouldnt be running this low. So I gained 2mph?I know the car is running rich, but I cant see it effecting me this much, and why would it effect me after LT's?

Car pulled hard, didnt feel odd or anything. On a good note I have been a little worried about the motor, because I would blow smoke(blue smoke aka oil) on startup. Or when I would sit for a while at idle, and then take off. So I told my bro and friends to watch closely for any blow bye while I made my runs. They said they didnt see any at all. So Im pretty dam glad. So its most likely a bad valve seal.

I guess I have to work out my shiftpoints, and maybe get a dyno run to get a better understanding on why Im not running faster. Overall I had a fun time. Its always a blast racing at the strip. lol I got lucky and pulled a .050 RT. In my earlier run, I got to excited and red light to a -.222 lol.

Well if any of you have any suggestions on where I should look into, feel free to comment. I'm going to get some new 02' sensors, cause the ones in there now have 80k on them. But if Im not wrong when you go WOT, it runs open loop anyway.

I wouldn't expect stellar performance with a car that is running rich like that. Get that sorted out first and then you'll probably see 13.5s or better.

He mentioned in his post that he was getting 2.0 60fts, same as he had gotten before.

But if your long term fuel trims are rich it will also be rich in Open Loop.

Get your programming sorted out.

What shift points are you using? why did you adjust them at all from stock?

If those two things don't pick up a nice gain I'd look at your plugs and wires for minor damage from the headers.

Same 60fts as before 2.0s. Car hooked good too. So somthing is holding it back I take it. Didnt feel like it was boging either.

Might wanna get those shift issues taken care of.. You should easily be a 13.50 car w/ those mod's...

Well when I had FLP program the car for the 3.73 gears (had 2.73's), they ajusted the ratio in the pcm. But they never fixed the shift tables. So the car would rev to high when it shifted. And when I would shift into 3rd it would bounce off the rev limiter. So this is what I ran into last year. So when I 13.8 last year wit the shift point problem. I had to let off the throttle before the 2nd-3rd gear upshift. Then I would go WOT once it went into 3rd.

So this year, I went and had my Jet-Hot LT's installed. And I'm running my own true duals. Which are basicly 2.5" bullet mufflers , dumping before the axel. Brand new plugs and wires were put in as well. And none of the wires are burnt. The headers/wires/plugs/ were installed about 2 months ago. I noticed a nice gain in performance, especially the added top end hp. So I went ahead and picked up some nitto dr's. And I purchased a HPPIII real cheap. Because I didnt want to depend on a shop again to correct my shiftpoints, just incase they were to low or to high, I wouldnt have to keep making trips, and scedualing. So I lowered the shift points with the HPPIII, which fixed the revlimter porblem when upshifting.

So at the track I noticed that I went to low on the shiftpoint settings because it was shifting at around 5-5200rpms. So I went and raised it 2mph more. And then I cracked the 13.8's @101. So give or take I could of bumped it up a couple more.

yea im going to see how soon I can get it dyno'ed then go on from there.

I guess going to the track again wouldnt hurt it either. But I'll do the dyno first.
