Well, thats why the belt went!
Well, thats why the belt went!
My serpentine belt threw off the car during a test run of the new top end. Anyway, long story short, the bolts that mount the power steering pump to that big bracket backed out. One is fine, but the other's threads are stripped, and there is no way in hell I'm taking everything out again to get to it. I was wondering, is there anyway I can epoxy it in? Or maybe use some very high strength Seal All to get it to set in there?
Thanks
Thanks

why dont you use a hand held tap?
Yes, I was also thinking about loctite.
The bolt will thread all the way through, but once it reaches the point where it you want to crank it down, it seems to just spin, theres a little bit of resistance, but not a lot.
The other side is fine, I guess it backed out because of it being the only fastener on the pump.

I'am not taking that ****ing thing out again.
I've spent two months working on this car, yeah I would like to do it "perfect" but, somethings are not worth removing the AC compressor, power steering lines, fans, etc. etc.
I think I might be able to get a Simpson countersink for the right thread size... I will see what I can come up with. This way I can thread it in, drive in the countersink and it will expand inside the threads, pushing against the threads. Along with loctite, should be good. Theoretically... if it throws another belt after the repair, and the same thing happens, then I will take it out.
I'll try a hand tap tool.
Thanks for your input people.

WELL!!!!!!
I heli-coiled that bitch, undid everything, had the bracket out in about 30 minutes, that's with cleaning up all the power steering fluid.
Drilled it out with a roto-hammer style drill
Almost took my arm off till I put it in a vice, tapped it nice and easy, put some Loc-tite in the threads and on the heli-coil and thread it in nicely.
Work's like a charm. I just have to put it all back on, put the new belt on, new headers are coming today, unfortunatley my Breslin bolts won't be here anytime soon, so lock washers and bolts it is until I get the Breslins.
Can't wait to get her back on the road, its been 3 months, and about 2 weeks ago since I last started the car with the older long tubes.
DAMNIT!
