Well this sucks!!! Any ideas???

Well today is a very bad day! I took the car out for a cruise around lunch time and met up with my buddy. We were messing around a little bit and I punched it from a light. Spun then hooked up but then at the top of first gear the tires broke loose and I hit the rev limiter hard for a few seconds before i could realze what was going on.

Well anyways to make a long story short, i definatly broke something. Car makes all kinds of noises and doesn't not want to run correct, let alone at all. I'm going to take the top end of the motor apart starting today i guess and try to figure out what i did. Anyone have any ideas? I'll post up what I find, but if anyone had any ideas what it could it could save me some time. Thanks again.

Thanks

just pull the intake manifold and valve covers off. You will be able to see any valvetrain dammage there. If that all looks fine, then I would worry.

Whack Oil pressure and strange screaching noises are indications of spun bearings.

I'm not sure to tell you the truth. I really didn't pay attention to anything when it happened.

Thats what my and a buddy of mine are doing. If the pushrod is bent, could it have messed anything else up? Valves?

Hopefully its not a spun bearing...

Re: Well this sucks!!! Any ideas???

I havn't had much time to take a look at it (work full time during the day) and i am working outside (dads nova is in the garage). But today i got most of the hoses and wires off and the TB.

Is it normal to have excess (or what i think is excessive) amounts of black build up on the manifold side of the TB and inside the manifold itselft? I'll post up some pics of "how bad" it is tomorrow when its daylight out.

Hmmm it made a lot of noises. Nails in a can would be the best way to describe it maybe. Not sure. It backfired and didn't want to run (didn't wat to run long enough to make it home). What i'm getting form LS1tech is that if it don't want to run then i might of bent a valve so it don't open?

Not that hard, just don't have the time (sunlight). I'm working outside and i work full time during the day. It's kinda cold out here still too.

Re: Well this sucks!!! Any ideas???

Dont get yourself all shook up over what you heard on LS1tech.com before you pull the valve covers. This would be the first thing i would do even before i took the intake off. The drivers side is very easy to take off and if you remove the alt the pass side will come off pretty easy as well. A bent pushrod will cause the valves not to open as well. Pull the valve covers first.

Re: Well this sucks!!! Any ideas???

Also dont sweat over the bent valve yet
If it doesnt wanna run, Could have bent a pushrod, If it bends any pushrod could make it run very rough or not want to run it all, Should be pretty obvious

May not want to pull the intake at all, Just take the valve covers off and take a look.....

Re: Well this sucks!!! Any ideas???

Just an update for anyone who somewhat followed this (now that its a month later), but it is a spun bearing!!! We almost had the the motor pulled last night, but it got late. It will be out Monday. Looks like a slow, boreing summer for me
