weld in exhaust or just clamp?

I had been checking around on prices to put on my cat and catback. Got a few prices, but thanks to this board, I kept checking because of you guys saying the prices were pretty high. Thanks!! Found a shop to do it for $60 - $100. Now, my question, is it better to weld in an exhaust or just use the clamps that came with it and clamp it all together? I was planning on welding the cat onto the Y pipe, but from there I don't know. Thanks for the opinions.

Use the clamps! If you ever decide to sell it or change it, you can just unbolt the clamps rather than having to cut the pipe.

I would definitely say weld it to make sure you have no leeks. I do not like the idea of clamps at all. A muffler shop can cut it off no problem if you don't like it. But it's all up to you.

Clamps will leak and even if you do decide to take it apart it's a pain in the butt to get the clamps off and the pipe seperated because of the heat and corrosion most of the time the bolts will break. The better way is to weld because of no leaks and you can just cut and reweld if you need to remove the exhaust.

I feel safer with welds. I knew my exhaust was gonna be staying on there, so it's all welding together nicely. I just don't like the idea of clamps holding my exhaust together.

At least tack weld it after you clamp it. Everything will stay together and the tacks can torched or ground off if you ever want to remove it.
